The vision and heart for this ministry was birthed as both Grace Church and Christ Church International partnered together to meet the needs of the South Minneapolis community following the senseless death of George Floyd on May 25th , 2020. As the young adults from both churches came together we knew more could be done together than apart. We recognized that the only way to fight systemic racism, prejudice, and injustice was with the Gospel through the local church. With that vision One City Minnesota was born with the desire to create a ministry of diverse Christ followers who would display to the world what was possible with the Gospel, the church, and a unified vision to reach the next generation in our city.
We believe that in this time of desperation, in the midst of doubt and fear, there is only one foundation.
We believe there is only one salvation.
We believe in God the Father.
We believe in Jesus Christ.
We believe in the Holy Spirit.
We believe Jesus has given us new life.
We believe in the crucifixion.
We believe Jesus is coming back again.
We believe that our faith needs to be more than just anthems.
We believe that our faith needs to be more than just the songs we sing.
We believe that in our weakness and in our temptations there is one named Jesus who plucks us out and sets our feet on a firm foundation.

My name is Eunice Akintade, I was born in Lagos, Nigeria and grew up in St Paul. I work full time for a company called be the match and on the side, I get to capture people’s moments as a photographer. I am on the worship team at Redeeming Love church in Maplewood and I’m also a youth leader there. In my free time I love reading and beating people in card games. I spend way too many hours watching fashion hauls on YouTube and reminding myself that I don’t need to buy everything I
see. I’m still trying to figure out how I can make a career out of taking naps so if you have ideas, let me know. I’m excited to see what’s to come for this city and how God is going to use us to bring lasting change and beauty in the midst of ashes.
Hi, My name is Niyi Olayinka I am Nigerian-American first generation man. I was born and raised in Minnesota and have lived here all my life. I have Mom, Pops, and two older sisters! I was raised in the church, but I definitely did not always follow Christ. My relationship with Jesus has had its ups and downs for sure, but I have grown much with Christ in my life after college. I have attended Christ Church International for most of my life and I am deeply invested in the wellbeing of my church and the neighborhood that it resides in. I love sports, especially hockey. I love good storytelling maybe more than anything. I love to travel and have been to every continent except for Asia and Antarctica. I’m blessed to be a part of One City and I am very excited to see what God will do through this ministry!
Greetings! My Name is Candi Jones. Soon to be (Candi Von Helmst). My hometown is Chicago (Born and raised), and on the playground is where I honestly spent most of my days. I moved to Minnesota in 2005. I became a Youth Leader at Christ Church International in 2008, and 10 years later, I became the Youth Pastor. God has brought me so far. To Him be the Glory! My heart is for the Love of Christ to be fully known. I have my B.A in Pastoral Studies, I am a total goof, a foodie, and a mediocre guitar player. By day, I work for a property management company, and by night, I'm a Hulu, Disney Plus, and Netflix enthusiast. I look forward to what God is doing with OneCityMN, and I'm excited to be a part of this.
Hi! My name is Joy Aso and I was born and raised in Rhode Island and moved to Minneapolis in 2019 after graduating from Brown University. Now I work at Medtronic designing human research trials for new cardiac devices. Living in such an ever-changing world is hard and there is so much comfort in knowing that while everything else may change, the Lord never does. I truly believe in the vision of creating a loving community of young people with a passion for Christ and officially decided to join the launch team after I received a revelation in the form of a dream where the Apostle Paul was my mentor, teaching me how to gather people together in a community of followers of Christ.
The missional heartbeat of One City Minnesota is church revitalization in urban communities. For decades the model to reach our city is often suburban churches planting in urban areas. One City wants to be a ministry that comes alongside the local church that is already in the city that may be struggling with resources, ideas and creative ways to reach the next generation, or various other ministry challenges, and help those churches revitalize and impact the cities in which they have often been for decades. Each year One City will take on a church revitalization project that will help to firmly establish the already existing church in various urban communities.
The first project we have identified as a ministry is to help Christ Church International raise the necessary funds through giving and various fundraising opportunities to pay off the remaining debt on their current church building.
Our targeted goal is to raise $175,000.00 over the next 12 months.
